Fire, Quicksand, Aether!- Oh to be in Germany now that May is near!

BB in full flow at "The Pav" last weekend.

Apologies for the lack of a blog last week leading up to the Matlock Bath event, unfortunately some gremlins managed to infiltrate the cogs of the machine, resulting in a trip to the local steambotics centre for some remedial activities beyond the ken of mere humans.

All good now though and upon reflection a good day last Saturday. Nice to have Lord Montague Jaques, recently returned from his native US and making his first appearance. A nice selection of burlesque artists filled the rest of the evening and  as they say "a splendid time was had by all".

Activities for next week turn to Northern Germany, with appearances spread over three events.

The first show is at the excellent looking Gut Goertz venue just outside Axel's home village of Heringsdorf, for The May Fire Party on Wednesday April 30th.

Bands, food and i suppose fairly obligatorily, fire (gonna teach you how to burn?), festivities from midday, keep an eye on the details at https://www.facebook.com/events/683626871703992/.

On May Day itself we move on to
MayFest at The TreibsAND venue, close to the heart of Lubeck and the rail station.

With outdoor and indoor stages and a plethora of bands, from as far afield as Perth, West Australia and Novosibirsk in Russia lined up, this promises to be a big event.

Unsure of timings as yet, BB expecting to be  on stage early evening.

Similarly unsure of price also, the venue does pride itself on modest admissions and beer prices though.

Proceedings underway at 2pm. updates from http://www.treibsand.org/?q=node%2F18096.

The German sojourn ends over the 3rd and 4th, with Dale and Monty making a return to "Aethercircus", a much enjoyed Steampunk event from last year.

Dale has solo slots each day at 1pm and 1.15pm respectively with Monty following at 4pm Saturday and 5.30pm Sunday.

Like Dale and Monty, Drachenflug are returning this year, additionally fellow German Steampunk bands Off Limits, Jessness plus Feline and Strange will be performing along with the metal based Steampunk of Italy's Poison Garden.

Many more activities on the programme  for 18 Euros Saturday and 10 on Sunday. Weekend tickets in advance only for 22 from http://aethercircus.blogspot.co.uk/.

It all takes place at Grauer Ort in Stade, about 15K west of Hamburg.

One last item, regarding Dale's side project "Captain Starfighter and The Lockheeds", who are making what is "essentially" their full debut on Friday the 25th at "The Snooty Fox, Kirkgate, Wakefield.

Expect Hawkwind/Calvert covers and possibly a couple of self penned. A superb night in store with support from Electric Cake Head and Hawkadian Loop and all for free!
