Year Of The Dragon(And The BB Blackdog)

Already a month into 2012 and what an exciting prospect. The Olympics come to our fair capital. The Diamond Jubilee of Good Queen Bess the second. Also a busy year for BB Blackdog.

Time will be devoted to completing the second album, amidst a hectic touring schedule.Included in March, as part of a three week excursion to the U.S., appearances at two highly prestigious steampunk festivals. A plethora of UK festival dates follow later in the year.

For now though, with drummer Axel, newly returned from his native Germany. It is time to blow the cobwebs off, with a more intimate gig, at home town Belper venue, The George and Dragon. Belper is easily accessible from the wider world via the Transpeak or Sixes omnibus services or the railway.

The music will be augmented by the dancing of Demolitia Tribal and whilst this not a steampunk event, a contingent is guaranteed. For the uninitiated, steampunks are friendly folk, bearing a neovictorian appearance, sharing a retro-futuristic vision, based upon clockwork and steam powered technology and invention. The music and indeed all aspects of their arts reflect this aesthetic.

If you have happened upon this blog and are unfamiliar with band, then please explore further, through the band's facebook page.It is surprising what can be achieved with two basses and drums.

Looking slightly further ahead. Thursday the 9th of February, will see the band involved in Sound Hubs competition to play at one of the major summer festivals, at The Victoria in Derby. Any support would be welcome and appreciated.

Lastly for now, also on the subject of festivals, with a slot at Hyde Park's, Hard Rock Calling in July the ultimate prize, is another chance for you to show your support. Simply visit Hard Rock Cafe Manchester on facebook and vote on Hard Rock Rising section. As a bonus you will receive in return a free download of "When I Met You"from the first album.
